Richmond Interior Designer’s Book Features Holtz Projects
Local interior designer Janie Molster – a frequent partner with H.J. Holtz & Son on residential projects – says Holtz work is on display throughout her new book “House Dressing,” even if the company name is nowhere to be found.
“My editor advised me not to name vendors and business partners, because I was sure to forget someone,” she laughs. “But Holtz is basically the star of the book.”

Lacquer Paint is the Perfect Fit for This Residential Club Room
Paula Holm called H.J. Holtz & Son because her contractor said so.
Holm and her husband, George, were working with Mark Franko, of Mark Franko Custom Building, to expand their kitchen and add a club room on the lower level, similar to the one they have in their vacation home.
“I knew I wanted to do the lacquer painting,” she says. “Once we started talking about that, Mark said [Rick Holtz was] who we have to talk with. Honestly, we didn’t even consider anyone else. They’re so knowledgeable.”

Decorative Floors – Make a Statement a Whole New Way
If, as interior designers tell us, the ceiling is the fifth wall of a room, then certainly the floor is the sixth wall. It may not be at eye level, but the floor – and whatever covers it – is integral to a space, either supporting an overall design or making a statement all by itself.

Decorative Ceilings for Your Richmond Home
Decorative ceilings are among the most dramatic projects team members at H.J. Holtz & Son executes. Techniques range the gamut: papers to high-gloss finishes, free-hand painting to elaborate stencils to highlight a central fixture or interesting shape.
